Privacy Policy

Airport Notes is a community-curated directory for general aviation pilots. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do with it. We've kept it plain English on purpose.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we store your email address and the password you choose (hashed — we never see it in plain text). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your email address and name from those services; we do not receive your passwords.

Profile information. Anything you add to your profile — display name, bio, home airport, certificate level, aircraft type, city, state, country — is stored and used to personalize your experience. Your full name and contact email (if provided) are private and never displayed publicly.

Submitted content. Fuel prices, restaurant listings, FBO information, fees, notes, and any other content you contribute to Airport Notes is stored and displayed publicly on the site.

Technical data. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising pixels, or any third-party tracking scripts.

What we don't collect

• We don't track your location.
• We don't sell your data to advertisers.
• We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tracking services.
• We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

How we use your information

• To provide and operate the Airport Notes service.
• To display your contributions (fuel prices, notes, listings) to other pilots.
• To send transactional emails — account verification, password resets, and notifications about your submissions. We don't send marketing email.
• To moderate community content and maintain the quality of information on the site.

Third-party services

Airport Notes is built on a small stack of trusted services:

• Supabase — database and authentication (hosted on AWS)
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Amazon Web Services (S3 + CloudFront) — file hosting and content delivery
• Google / Apple — optional sign-in (only if you choose to use it)

Each of these services processes data only as necessary to operate the site. We do not authorize them to use your data for their own purposes.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your Profile page — this permanently removes your account, profile, and all associated data. Publicly submitted content (fuel prices, notes, listings) may be retained in anonymized form to preserve the usefulness of the database.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level security on our database so users can only access their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable precautions.

Children

Airport Notes is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll post a notice on the site. Continued use of Airport Notes after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
